OPEN POSITION

The Analyst will provide hands-on participation in the core activities of operating a small private equity firm, with an emphasis on deal sourcing. Additionally, you will learn how to critically evaluate industries and companies as potential acquisition targets, how to value them, the process of completing the acquisition of a private business, and the many challenges in doing so.

Please note that the internship is unpaid; however, mentorship will be provided by Steve Coogan (Founder), [LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/steven-coogan/], as well as a wealth of interesting experiences that should serve you well in pursuing your career endeavours.

Role Responsibilities

  • Develop lists of potential acquisition targets and screen targets for outreach
  • Build a financial model for a prospective venture
  • Craft and execute a plan to research a new market
  • Identify owners and find their contact information
  • Review and analyse confidential information provided by potential acquisition targets
  • Prepare communications to reach owners through a variety of mediums, including letters and emails
  • Prepare offers to acquire business

Details of Position

  • Title: Analyst (can update title to align with your future goals)
  • Term: Flexible start, minimum commitment 4 months
  • Time Commitment: 20 to 40 hours per week
  • Office Location: Virtual with BST hours
  • Compensation: Unpaid internship

Ideal Candidate

  • Education in Business Management, Economics, Financial Modeling, or other relevant areas of study is an asset
  • Highly motivated, resourceful, and persistent with a focus on task execution
  • Willingness to commit to the required time commitment and minimum term
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator
  • Critical thinker
  • Ability to construct basic financial models and a hunger to get good at them
  • Comfortable working independently and making calls to strangers (brokers, business owners, etc.) on the phone
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accountability and correctness
